No-Drama Obama’s Legacy Could Hinge on Flynn Fallout

President Obama’s administration was largely immune of any criticism during his presidency and the disastrous Michael Flynn case is a good example of how controversy seldom reached his office, Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show”said Monday.

But the times, they are a-changin'.

This weekend, a lawyer for Flynn tied Obama to the plot against her client, putting the ex-president in the unusual position of playing defense.

JUSTICE NOT SERVED IN FLYNN CASE: SEXTON

“I think we often lose sight of how immune to real criticism and transparency and opposition the Obama administration was,” he said. “The media, as dishonest and disgusting they are, are still very powerful and they completely prostrated themselves in front of Barack Obama. They begged for him to just say a nice word about them.”

Obama benefited from years of praise that paid off in a massive Netflix deal. The media treated his tenure as legendary, but the Flynn case, and its subsequent fallout seems to be rattling the ex-president.

Sexton’s remarks come after Sidney Powell, one of Flynn’s attorneys, told Fox News a day earlier that Obama was in on the plot to frame her client.

“The whole thing was orchestrated and set up within the FBI, [former Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper, [Former CIA Director John] Brennan, and in the Oval Office meeting that day [Jan. 5, 2017] with President Obama,” she said. She was asked if he believed that Obama was in on the plot and she said, “Absolutely.”

Trump seized on the allegation that Obama had a role in the investigation and labeled it “ObamaGate.”

“The biggest political crime in American history, by far!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Sexton said that Powell touched the “third rail” of the Democrat Party. He said tying the former president to the Flynn case threatens the entire party. Despite Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, everyone knows the most important Democrat in the country is Obama, Sexton said.

Obama was seen as “the paragon of Democrat Party virtue,” Sexton said. He continued, “And that’s why they get so testy about it, that’s why they get so touchy when you bring up anything Barack Obama has done that was unacceptable."

“If you read a news story about some European country, where after a fair election, the outgoing president used his last weeks in office to target incoming officials and sabotage the incoming administration you would be appalled,” he said. “But it happened here, my friends, and half the country thinks it’s fine.”

Sexton said the media’s adoration of Obama took a complete turn toward hatred for Trump.

“The question becomes how much of it was directed by Obama,” Sexton said. “Was this on his watch, and bears the responsibility or was this at his behest and these people were just tools of the Obama vendetta against Flynn?”
