Wokeness Comes After Superheroes Faster than a Speeding Bullet

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the left-wing mob looking to topple more American icons!

A writer in Time magazine sent up the woke Bat Signal on Monday when she wrote that it was high time that the country begins to “talk” about superheroes.

(When the left mentions that it is time to talk, it actually means that the angry mob is on the march and someone/company is in trouble. It is actually time for some left chest-thumping while you have to shut up, listen then apologize.)

The article mentions the seismic shift in the country when it comes to law enforcement in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody. The article says that we should not just examine the role of police in Hollywood movies, but we should also consider superheroes who get to “decide the parameters of justice and often enact them with violence.”

The article asks, “What are superheroes except cops with capes who enact justice with their powers?” The report pointed out that the creators of the characters have “historically been white men.”

“So it’s hardly surprising that so few reckon with issues of systemic racism—let alone sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of bigotry embedded in the justice system or the inherent biases these superheroes might carry with them as they patrol the streets, or the universe.”

Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show,” said the “cops with capes phenomenon” appeals to many Americans because most people want justice when there’s a crime being committed, no matter the color of the superhero.

He said that he is open to the debate about the role superheroes play in society, but he takes issue with the “woke left” taking issue with these characters due to their loose connection with police.

“Everything has to go through the woke scanner,” Sexton said. He continued, “No one will be allowed to escape it. You can be excused: If you’re left-wing and your Team Democrat and you’re important, you just need to bend the knee and you’ll be forgiven.”

Sexton said the new scrutiny for superheroes is just another power grab by the left, all while they turn a blind eye to woke celebrities like Howard Stern, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon who skipped the superhero costume in the past in favor of blackface. Sexton said that the controversy for these public figures will blow over because they publicly embrace woke culture and the same rules don't apply.

He said the old saying goes, “If Democrats didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards.”
